6,400 m² DHL logistics center

Deutsche Post DHL needed a new mechanized delivery base to the north of Mannheim. The company DIRINGER & SCHEIDEL was able to provide a suitable and conveniently located plot of land on which they then designed and later built the new logistics center together with Astron. The steel hall was designed entirely according to the guidelines of the DHL corporate design for a «MechZB88».

The logistics center is approx. 6,400 m² in size. 120 employees process about 19,000 parcels a day here and even up to 25,000 before Christmas. The delivery base has 92 loading chutes.

The length of the steel hall extends over 147 meters, the width up to 43 meters, i.e. there are no disturbing columns in the interior. The logistics center was classified for fire resistance class F0. Thus, the steel structure could be installed unprotected.

The roof is the proven ASTRON LPR1000 roof system with 120 mm insulation. The sandwich panels are 100 mm thick and colored in DHL yellow. The total eaves height is 8.60 meters. Up to a height of 3.30 meters there is a concrete wall, and above that the wall was closed with the DHL yellow sandwich panels.

Due to the LPR roof system with the soft soffit and a sound absorption level of over 60%, the noise level in the hall is significantly reduced, so that a much more pleasant working environment is possible than in a conventional steel hall with a sheet metal soffit.
