State-of-the-art building for high-quality plastics
The medium-sized and owner-managed company SORTCO offers the detection and sorting out of black specks (black inclusions), discolorations and cross-contamination in plastic granulates as a service. A new facility was opened in 2021 in Niederzissen/Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, as a high-tech site with multiple, parallel sorting lines and its own laboratory.
The 2,100 m2 production hall extends partly over one and partly over several levels. Production is located in the three-story section of the steel hall. A centrally positioned crane can transport goods and production parts from the multi-story to the single-story section of the building. The ceilings are capable of supporting live loads of 2,000 kg/m2.
The roof is an LPR roof system with 120 mm insulation. The wall system consists of 100 mm concealed screwed sandwich panels.
This is already the third building project that AKRO-PLASTIC, a partner of SORTCO, has realised with the long-term Astron Builder Wilhem Bouhs GmbH from Bad Breisig, Germany.
The architectural services were provided by Bouhs’ in-house architects.
